In June Grethe Heitmann presented at the Postpartum Hemorrhage Community of Practice webinar facilitated by Dr Andrew Weeks. The introduction of the webinar:
“In the last 50 years, clinical research has focused on the use of drugs to prevent and treat postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), which has led to important advances in understanding and outcomes.
Yet, there are many non-drug interventions that can be used and which should not be neglected. After all, a century ago in the UK— before oxytocin or blood transfusions, and when only physical therapies were available—maternal mortality from hemorrhage fell by over half.”
