Fresh article on external aortic compression in clinical contexts

We can finally share the results!

Together with six colleagues, ExAC founder Grethe Heitmann has published a case series of four cases of postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) in which external aortic compression was applied.
The case series shows that external aortic compression can be used as a temporising measure across different clinical scenarios and causes of PPH. The article concludes that “(...) increased use of external aortic compression, being a simple, teachable, and potentially life-saving procedure, can make a significant impact on maternal morbidity and mortality in both high- and low-resource settings”.

After more than seven years of work, ExAC is seeing a growing body of knowledge and increasing adoption of external aortic compression in clinical practice. We take this as an encouragement and confirmation that what we do is now changing both knowledge and practice!
